Summary
The chapter examines several organizational structures for workers’ compensation programs, including those with a single administrator, those administered by a commission or board, and those administered by a state court. Information is provided on the length of terms for administrators and their salaries. The processing of uncontested and contested claims is discussed as well as the processing of first reports of injuries filed by employers or carriers. The statistical reports prepared by state programs are explained together with the lack of uniformity of the data among states.
